Cada fase tem entreg\u00e1veis, ferramentas e um tollgate de aprova\u00e7\u00e3o antes de avan\u00e7ar, com o objetivo de reduzir defeitos ao patamar de 3,4 DPMO. O m\u00e9todo foi formalizado pela <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iso.org\/standard\/52901.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">norma ISO 13053-1:2011<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/asq.org\/quality-resources\/dmaic\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">American Society for Quality (ASQ)<\/a> define o DMAIC como abordagem estruturada de resolu\u00e7\u00e3o de problemas para processos existentes que n\u00e3o atendem padr\u00f5es de desempenho. A palavra-chave \u00e9 &#8220;existentes&#8221;: o m\u00e9todo pressup\u00f5e que o processo j\u00e1 roda e produz dados, ainda que insatisfat\u00f3rios. Quando o processo n\u00e3o existe, o framework correto \u00e9 o DMADV. O DMAIC opera dentro da filosofia mais ampla do Seis Sigma, que estabelece o padr\u00e3o estat\u00edstico de qualidade.<\/p>\n\n<h3>O que significa a sigla DMAIC?<\/h3>\n\n<p>A sigla representa cinco verbos sequenciais: Define (definir o problema e o cliente), Measure (medir o desempenho atual com dados confi\u00e1veis), Analyze (analisar e confirmar causas-raiz estatisticamente), Improve (testar e implementar solu\u00e7\u00f5es) e Control (sustentar os ganhos com plano de controle e SPC). A ordem importa: pular ou inverter fases \u00e9 a causa documentada de falha em projetos.<\/p>\n\n<h3>Qual a diferen\u00e7a entre DMAIC e Six Sigma?<\/h3>\n\n<p>Six Sigma \u00e9 a filosofia e o padr\u00e3o estat\u00edstico (3,4 defeitos por milh\u00e3o de oportunidades, ou 99,99966% de yield). DMAIC \u00e9 o m\u00e9todo de execu\u00e7\u00e3o dentro dessa filosofia, usado para conduzir projetos de melhoria em processos existentes. Pode-se aplicar DMAIC fora do Six Sigma formal, como framework gen\u00e9rico de melhoria orientada a dados, mas o rigor estat\u00edstico permanece a alma do m\u00e9todo.<\/p>\n\n<h2 id=\"origem-do-dmaic\">De onde veio o DMAIC e como ele chegou \u00e0s Fortune 500?<\/h2>\n\n<p>Bill Smith e Mikel Harry criaram o m\u00e9todo na Motorola em 1986 como resposta direta \u00e0 competi\u00e7\u00e3o japonesa em eletr\u00f4nicos de consumo. O nome original era MAIC (Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control); a fase Define foi incorporada depois, inspirada no PDCA de W. Edwards Deming. Jack Welch o adotou na GE em 1995 e <a href=\"https:\/\/kaizen.com\/insights\/continuous-improvement-dmaic-six-sigma\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">gerou US$ 350 milh\u00f5es de economia em 1998, n\u00famero que ultrapassou US$ 1 bilh\u00e3o nos anos seguintes<\/a>.
