Criado na Toyota em 1948 por Taiichi Ohno, hoje \u00e9 aplicado de f\u00e1bricas a hospitais, ag\u00eancias e times de software, sempre que h\u00e1 trabalho fluindo em etapas.<\/p>\n\n<p>Em relat\u00f3rio da <a href=\"https:\/\/hbr.org\/sponsored\/2020\/05\/enterprise-kanban-keeping-your-virtual-workplace-connected-to-the-business\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Harvard Business Review com a Planview (2020)<\/a>, Kanban \u00e9 definido como um sistema visual que gerencia o trabalho conforme ele se move por um processo, com o objetivo de identificar gargalos e corrigi-los para que o fluxo aconte\u00e7a em velocidade e custo \u00f3timos. A for\u00e7a do m\u00e9todo est\u00e1 em uma propriedade rara: \u00e9 simples o bastante para um padeiro adotar em um quadro branco e robusto o bastante para coordenar uma opera\u00e7\u00e3o global como a Toyota.<\/p>\n\n<p>No Brasil, &#8220;kanban&#8221; \u00e9 buscado mais de 54 mil vezes por m\u00eas no Google, segundo dados de planejamento de palavras-chave, e o termo aparece em literaturas de gest\u00e3o de opera\u00e7\u00f5es, ag\u00eancias de marketing e at\u00e9 no <a href=\"https:\/\/sebrae.com.br\/sites\/PortalSebrae\/artigos\/gestao-de-projetos-aumenta-a-eficiencia-e-os-lucros,b73e3f28db8a6810VgnVCM1000001b00320aRCRD\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sebrae<\/a>, que o recomenda como uma das principais metodologias de gest\u00e3o de projetos para pequenos neg\u00f3cios. A leitura do mercado \u00e9 clara: virou linguagem comum de quem precisa visualizar trabalho.<\/p>\n\n<h3 id=\"kanban-vs-metodo-kanban\">Qual a diferen\u00e7a entre kanban (min\u00fasculo) e M\u00e9todo Kanban (mai\u00fasculo)?<\/h3>\n\n<p>kanban com k min\u00fasculo \u00e9 o quadro visual com cart\u00f5es e colunas, ou seja, o artefato. M\u00e9todo Kanban com K mai\u00fasculo \u00e9 o conjunto formal de princ\u00edpios e pr\u00e1ticas de gest\u00e3o evolutiva codificado por David J. Anderson em 2010 para trabalho do conhecimento. Confundir os dois leva equipes a achar que &#8220;ter um Trello&#8221; equivale a &#8220;fazer Kanban&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n<p>Na pr\u00e1tica, o quadro \u00e9 o &#8220;como&#8221; e o m\u00e9todo \u00e9 o &#8220;porqu\u00ea&#8221;. Voc\u00ea pode ter um quadro lindo e estar longe do m\u00e9todo: basta ignorar limites WIP, n\u00e3o medir cycle time e tratar o quadro como reposit\u00f3rio de tarefas eternas. E voc\u00ea pode aplicar o m\u00e9todo sem o nome: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sults.com.br\/blog\/gestao-de-processos\">empresas que padronizam fluxos por <em>swimlanes<\/em><\/a> e respeitam capacidade j\u00e1 praticam Kanban, mesmo chamando de outro jeito.<\/p>\n\n<h2 id=\"historia-kanban-toyota\">Como o Kanban saiu do ch\u00e3o de f\u00e1brica da Toyota e chegou ao trabalho do conhecimento?<\/h2>\n\n<p>Taiichi Ohno se inspirou nos supermercados americanos Piggly Wiggly para criar em 1948 um sistema de reposi\u00e7\u00e3o puxada (pull) na Toyota. Em 2004, David J. Anderson aplicou os princ\u00edpios em uma equipe de TI da Microsoft, formalizando em 2010 o M\u00e9todo Kanban para trabalho do conhecimento. Hoje, o m\u00e9todo est\u00e1 em manufatura, sa\u00fade, varejo, governo e times remotos.<\/p>\n\n<p>O detalhe que poucos artigos contam: passaram-se 56 anos entre a primeira aplica\u00e7\u00e3o industrial do Kanban e sua chegada ao mundo do software. Durante esse intervalo, o Toyota Production System foi descrito academicamente em estudos como o de <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tandfonline.com\/doi\/abs\/10.1080\/00207547708943149\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sugimori e colegas no International Journal of Production Research (1977)<\/a>, virou refer\u00eancia mundial de manufatura enxuta e influenciou empresas como General Electric e Boeing antes de cruzar para o trabalho intelectual.
